As Black Friday approaches, thousands of Brits are looking to escape the British high street in favour of a festive shopping trip abroad. New York is the most sought after city for Brits to blitz in the holiday shopping season, followed by Orlando and Las Vegas, according to figures from Escape Travel Card, the prepaid currency card provider.
In a review of its customers’ spending patterns during November and December 2015, Escape Travel Card has revealed that the USA is the most popular place for Brits to splash their cash in the run up to Christmas. Half of the top ten travel destinations, determined by spend, with couples spending an average of £3,000 per trip
This figure is set to increase significantly in the wake of the American election, with British shoppers keen to take advantage of the current strong pound to dollar exchange rate and bag some Christmas bargains. Escape Travel Card has witnessed a 23% increase in spend in America since Trump was declared president-elect on 9th November.
